NEPTUNE — Police are searching for the robbers who surrounded a pizza deliveryman, stole his
money, and then took his car Tuesday night.
The deliveryman was headed to a home on the 1300 block of 10th Avenue around 8:15 p.m. As he got out of his car, a group approached him, surrounded him and demanded cash, said Lt. William Monroe.
One of the robbers pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the victim, said Monroe.
The victim turned over his cash, and one of the robbers ran away, heading east on 10th Avenue toward Ridge Avenue, police said.
The other robbers jumped into the victim's car, a 1997 Audi, and drove off, heading toward Route 35, police said.
Neptune patrol officers later found the victim's abandoned car on Borden Avenue in Asbury Park, near the Neptune boundary.
The victim described all of the attackers as black males who were in their late teens and wore dark or black clothing. One of the robbers was described as approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a thin build, dark complexion and facial acne.
The victim told police the gun was a semi-automatic, black, and had a silver ring on the tip of the barrel.
The Tinton Falls Police Department K-9 unit helped with the investigation, which is
continuing.
Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Detective Michael Dugan at (732) 988-8000.
