MATAWAN — A gunman staged a mid-afternoon robbery at the Los Koritas Deli on Main Street Wednesday, escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The bandit pointed a silver revolver at a store employee before scooping cash from the register, police Lt. Ben Smith said.

The robber, described as a light-skinned black man, about 6-feet 1-inch tall with a goatee, fled on foot across Main Street in the direction of Broad Street, Smith said.
