MONTCLAIR — Fire officials and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are investigating fires discovered in several trash cans in a classroom building at Montclair State University.
The fires were quickly extinguished and no one was injured. But evening classes at the school were canceled.
The fires on at least two floors of University Hall, a seven-story classroom building, were reported to campus police at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A university spokeswoman said the building was evacuated and there was no major property damage.
