NEPTUNE — Police are warning residents to report suspicious activity after cottages in the Ocean Grove section of town were burglarized.

The break-ins occurred between Saturday night and Tuesday morning, at six summer homes - five cottages and one tent -- on Surf Avenue, Bath Avenue and Bethany Block, police said.

Entry was gained by forcing open windows in the back of the cottages, which are on the perimeter of the tent community, but no items have been reported missing, said Lt. William Monroe.

The burglaries were reported shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday after an employee of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association discovered one of the break-ins, the lieutenant said.

The cottages are owned by the association, said Monroe.

Monroe said police want to warn residents that home and vehicle burglaries tend to increase around the holidays.

He said suspicious activity should immediately be reported by calling 911.

The investigation into the Ocean Grove burglaries is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to call Officer Jeremiah Clarke at (732) 988-8000.
